If Clubs Can't Pay, Who Will?
Licensed clubs are the backbone of the Canberra community. Each and every year, clubs provide support to the communities in which they operate whether it be in the form of facilities and infrastructure, donations to charitable and other organisations, support for sport at every level or simply as a safe and pleasant venue for people to gather and socialise.
Clubs are vital to the life of Canberra which is why more than 200,000 Canberrans are members of at least one club in the ACT.
However, the future of clubs and their role in the community is under threat. The Federal Government intends to force a number of measures on clubs which would severely cut club revenue and lead to many clubs closing their doors.
If you want to keep your club open and if you want your club to continue supporting your community, than you need to become aware of what the Federal Government is planning and make sure you tell your local politician that you support your local club and the Gillard Government should think twice about carrying out their plans.
This page contains information on what the Federal Government is planning and what you can do about it.
Your club's future is under threat - if you want your club to survive, you need to act.
