Hartley Lifecare

Established in 1962, Hartley Lifecare is a Canberra-based organisation that provides accommodation support and respite care for children and adults with physical and complex disabilities. Hartley Lifecare also provides other services that help people with disability have a positive impact on their community. The services provided are accommodation, respite, assistive technology and community programs including family governance, recreation and social participation groups.

Project:

Hartley Assistive Technology Program

Assistive Technology helps those living with a disability to gain greater independence by using technology to communicate with others; to establish control within their own environment and through the provision of technology and training allowing them to perform a range of skills required at work. The program offers free assessments and training and is available to all members of the Canberra community living with disability.
However, not only does the program provide the many hours of assessment & training but also needs, in many cases , to help the person with the provision and adaptation of equipment & software. This is where we have a shortfall in funding – to be able to set up and maintain an equipment loan library available to those who access the program. We need $5,000 to be set up this loan library.

Funding Sought:

Amount:  $5 000
Period: 1 July 2013 – 30 June 2014
